By The Numbers

PARK(ing) Day started in San Francisco in 2005 with some turf and a bench in a metered street parking spot for the day. The space quickly became a place for people to sit, eat lunch, and relax. Since then, the event has grown into an annual international event.

200+

participating cities

In over 200 cities around the world, communities highlight how we prioritize cars over people for one day each year.

13+

years celebrated

Since 2005, citizens around the world have been reclaiming street parking spots and turning them into public spaces.
